Guinea Pigs R Us Rescue
making a difference in animal life

Who We Are

Guinea Pigs R Us was created in March of 2006 by director Sarah Levett-Fuller to meet a previously unrecognized need to rescue and rehome guinea pigs from shelters in Southern Ontario. Sarah has owned and loved guinea pigs for many years, and during that time has done much research on the general and medical care of these wonderful little creatures.

Having volunteered and fostered for other rescues such as Rabbit Rescue Inc. and Hobocat Adoptions, Sarah learned of the many trials and tribulations of rescuing, but decided to pursue guinea pig rescue anyway, citing the great need for a guinea pig specific rescue in Ontario, and specifically the GTA.

In addition to her love for guinea pigs, Sarah finds herself drawn to other small animals. For this reason it is difficult to say no to other furry faces in need, and thus many other little creatures have also been rescued and rehomed by Guinea Pigs R Us.

Guinea Pigs R Us could not exist without the help of dedicated volunteers and our few, quality foster homes. Because we do not have an actual facility, we rely completely on our foster homes to house our residents. Without foster homes, these special little creatures would perish in shelters, many without knowing what it is to be loved and cared for.

It is very important to Guinea Pigs R Us to find foster homes that are knowledgeable about the animals they care for and that have some experience with them. We make a conscious effort to place our rescues into foster homes that match their personalities and species. We have developed close relationships with devoted staff at shelters in the GTA and Hamilton who do their very best to find spots for the animals that end up in their care.

Guinea Pigs R Us is not currently a registered charity, but given the volume of animals rescued in the last year and the prospect of the rescue growing within the next year, this is something that will be pursued within the next six - twelve months.
